One warm, lazy summer, a child wrote her very first story. It was a mystery. You could say that it was a best seller, although no copies were actually sold. It was, however, a hit with its readers.

My brother loved it! It kept him guessing "whodunit" right up to the very end.

From then on, I was hooked with writing. It was mysteries for me! I soon graduated to reading Sherlock Holmes, Agatha Christie, and Dorothy L. Sayers.

Now I am a writer, editor, scholar, and researcher. But, I have never lost my love of detective fiction. In fact, I created a course on women and detective fiction, and I have written nonfiction articles and papers about mystery writers and criticism.
